The highly regarded Vision jukebox, originally designed and developed by View Interactive Entertainment (San Leandro, CA) in collaboration with hundreds of operators around the country, was introduced in 2006. The View team, led by Caviglia, initiated a design process dubbed FOBO, or “For Operators, By Operators,” which explicitly encouraged operators to share their ideas throughout the entire process. The result of this input was the Vision jukebox, one of the most exciting products to emerge in the coin-op industry’s recent history. In April, 2008 The Vision digital jukebox line was put back into production and will be re-branded as an AMI-powered jukebox.
Pundits have predicted new technologies will soon challenge broadcast television for viewers. With successful installation of its technology at commercial venues in Chicago, TAP.tv is already living those predictions.
New technologies and the Internet have removed many of the infrastructure barriers to generating "your own television." TAP.tv doesn't "broadcast" TV. Instead, it is spearheading the new world of IP-based "narrowcasting." Broadcast TV sends a signal broadly over an area. IP-based narrowcasting puts it exactly where it's wanted - down to a specific TV. TAP's technology allows commercial establishments to completely customize television within their venues; building their own private TV network.
TAP.tv goes well beyond digital signs. Instead of displaying a limited amount of ad content on a dedicated screen, TAP.tv's technology works with any existing screen and fully integrates ads into compelling "programming." We replicate, at low cost, the functionality previously provided for hundreds of thousands of dollars only at a cable system's head-end. This means these venues can not only play "regular television," but also easily generate their own content channels and their own television ads. Interactive applications, games, event marketing - all are possible.
TAP's software engineers have created the means to create, transmit, control and play advertising locally, at the level of an individual location. This means each audience can be created dynamically, on the fly, based upon expert systems and targeting criteria that include venue type, exact geography and exact screen content. While TAP.tv is paid an installation fee and a small monthly fee for licensed content and the tools it provides, it underwrites much of the system cost by selling third party advertising across its "network of private networks."
